Please note that disconnecting a drive through the system tray icon works fine. It is disconnecting from the main Rohos Center screen that doesn't seem to work. Thanks

I downloaded Rohos Mini for my USB drive and I downloaded Rohos Disc Encryption for my desktop computer. I realize now that I may have placed my issue under the wrong heading. Rohos Disc Encryption is evidently the program causing the issue. I have version 1.7 (Oct 22, 2009) downloaded from http://www.rohos.com/download/.
Thanks.

Hello,

> It seems that Rohos Disk is either disconnecting the drive but not communicating that fact to the Windows operating system, or Rohos Disk is failing to disconnect the drive but telling the user that it has. Either way it is a problem.

> So my question is, when disconnecting through the main Rohos GUI, why does the interface tell me I've disconnected the drive when it is in fact still conected?

Thank you for your feedback. These issues will be checked by Rohos Techs.

Actually I discovered I don't have to Exit the Rohos program completely to safely remove my hardware device. I am able to right-click on the Rohos icon in my system tray, then select 'disconnect <drive letter>' from the menu. After I have disconnected the drive in this manner, I am able to successfully use the normal Safely Remove Hardware Device protocol. So my question is, when disconnecting through the main Rohos GUI, why does the interface tell me I've disconnected the drive when it is in fact still conected? And why can I only disconnect through the system tray icon, not through the main GUI?

After saving and closing the files on my USB drive, I go to the Rohos Disk main screen "I want to...". At the top right corner of the screen the name of the hidden volume on my USB is visible. I left click on the name and select "disconnect". I then go to my computer system tray and click on the icon to Safely Remove Hardware Device and select the drive letter of my USB Drive . At this point I get a warning message "Problem Ejecting USB Mass Storage Device. Windows can't stop your 'Generic volume' device because it is in use. Close any programs or windows that might be using the device, and then try again." I check and all files and folders pertaining to my USB drive have been closed. Only the Rohos Disk program is running. Through trial and error I discovered that I can only successfully disconnect the device for safe removal AFTER the Rohos Disk program has been closed. It seems that Rohos Disk is either disconnecting the drive but not communicating that fact to the Windows operating system, or Rohos Disk is failing to disconnect the drive but telling the user that it has. Either way it is a problem.

I'm running Windows Vista Home Premium on a 64-bit machine.

I downloaded the Rohos Mini program intending to trial it before buying. Less than 5 minutes after installing the program, I started getting a pop-up warning that my 15-day trail period had expired and a request that I register. The warning keeps appearing every time I try to use some portion of the program. It is really annoying, especially since I've had the program on my machine less than 2 hours. Perhaps you intended it to be a reminder that I am using a 'Trial Version' and that I should register within 15 days? If so, the wording of the pop-up is all wrong. Also, it would be sufficient for any such reminder warning to pop up ONCE when the user begins to use the program, such as when logging into a disk, not every single action the user makes. I thought you might want to know about this bug so you could repair it.

Hello,

> is it possible for me to configure one usb pendrive to be able to logon to both of them using same pendrive?

Yes, it's possible.

> 1.What (all) should i buy?

You should buy Rohos Logon Key PRO license.

> 2. How do i do it? I am familiar with process for adding a usb key, just not sure about how to do it for multiple systems on single pendrive.

The procedure of configuring USB drive in Rohos Logon Key for Windows:
1. Plug in your USB drive
2. Open the program's main window
3. Click on Setup USB Key (the program will automatically detect your pen drive)
4. Type in your Windows password
5. Press Setup USB Key button

The procedure of configuring USB drive in Rohos Logon Key for Mac:
1. Plug in the same USB drive
2. Click on Rohos icon in the status bar
3. And then choose “Add USB Key…” (the system automatically detects the plugged flash drive (with its serial number).
4. Click on the device serial number and then press “Choose USB”.
5. Authorization window will pop up. Insert your Username and Password. Press OK. The USB Key has been configured.
6. Now you may set up Action upon USB Key removal. Click on Rohos icon in the status bar and choose “Open Rohos Logon…”.

I'm having a problem with Dropbox Portable (http://forums.dropbox.com/topic.php?id=7729, The version in the first post is broken; I'm using the updated one at http://dl.dropbox.com/u/2328438/DropBoxPortable.zip) I'm putting it in the PortableApps\Dropbox Portable folder, so everything is virtualized. When I open DropboxPortable.exe from a non-encrypted location, it first displays a messagebox, then it opens dropbox.exe (in the App folder). Dropbox.exe then asks for my credentials to log in to Dropbox.

However, when I open it from Disk Browser, it displays the message box and opens Dropbox.exe, but dropbox.exe fails to ask for credentials. From the small amount of troubleshooting I've done, it appears that dropbox.exe doesn't have access to the virtual folder (which it certainly needs in order to operate correctly). Is there any way to tell Disk Browser to virtualize the folder for dropbox.exe as well?

Hello!

But this document is from 2008.

If you would like start an encrypted file as a disk so you will ask with a pop-up. One of the "options" is to start the disk as a removable disk. But alwas this check box is off by standard.

It is possible to check this by using a command line command?

I use a autorun-file to start the disk with following content:

OPEN=Rohos_mini.exe \_rohos\rdisk.rdi
ICON=Rohos_mini.exe
ACTION = Mount as a removable disk

It would be great if I could switch on the "remove disk" option by default.

Hello. We have 35 users in a Windows Active Directory domain who access 10 workstations (they work multiple shifts). We would like to create an environment where a USB key has to be in the machine before allowing anyone to log on.

I tested this on a workstation, and found the USB key needed to be inserted only for the first logon - subsequent logons did no require the key at all. This is with the trial version.

Question: Can I set this up so that only the Administrator account can log in without the USB key inserted? No users can log on without a USB key inserted, except for the administrator account? Is this possible, and if so, how do I accomplish it?

Thanks in advance.

Would be great to adjust the removal instruction, as it drove me crazy in the beginning, as the version was not working for me and when I made just the one change I had the problem too that I could not install any apps. Thanks neilmac for the info. It helped me.

Hi All,

Here is 1.7.4 version of Rohos Disk Browser.
http://www.rohos.com/betta/rbrowser.zip

Whats new:
+ "Repair" menu option with Disk Tools: Check Errors and Format.
* Check Errors is not working for a while under Win Seven.
* Format may not work for already created disks.
Please be aware that "Fix Errors" option actually fixes errors and writes data to the partition. But it may fail to check till the end for some reasons and therefore partition may be corrupted. It is under development yet. It is not recommended to use it now.

+ "New" menu option that allows creating new partition was re-implemented with Windows native code (disk formatting was virtualized from Windows).
+ Under "Partition Properties" dialog box there is "HEX" button that allows seeing boot sector (0) of the encrypted partition in plain text.
* When you double click on EXE file, entire folder gets virtualized and this EXE will be started.

I am having the same problem also. I can run Firefox portable from the encrypted drive on my USB from my home computer with administration rights but not on a computer without administration rights. I get the error message "firefox.exe was not found. Pease check your configuration." I can access individual files in the Firefox directory on the encrypted drive such as readme.txt and help.html but I can't run the Firefox excutable. Another separate issue it that nothing happens when I click on Settings in the Rohos Disk Browser. Any updates or suggestions?

Hello,

Please, be advised that there is no such option to delete a certain key. You should press OFF - button http://www.rohos.com/img/rohos_logon_mac_1_4_3.png and all configured USB Keys will be erased. You'd have to set up the desired USB Keys again.

Hi,

I created three USB Keys to login into my box. How can I remove one of them? Or better explained, how can I avoid that this key is further used to access my box.
I want to know that in the case, my key USB Key get stolen or I loose it somewhere.

Advance Thanks.

I had a problem with this too, after uninstalling Rohos for Mac. I couldn't run any Installer app, because the installer couldn't raise the Authentication dialog. It turns out that in /etc/authorization there is <b>another</b> rohos configuration directive apart from "<string>rohos:test</string>".
It's in the <key>authenticate</key> group.
Where it says "rohos:authenticate" return it to "builtin:authenticate".
Perhaps someone from Rohos can provide a more accurate removal instruction for it. :-)
