How to optimize Rohos using registry tweaks.

  • Hide Rohos icon near the clock.
    This tweak allows you to hide Rohos icon near the system clock. You can use Rohos to connect or disconnect Rohos disk.


    Key: HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE \ Software \ Rohos
    Value name: DisableRohosIcon
    Type: DWORD
    1- hide icon;
    Restart Windows for the changes to take place.

  • Connect Rohos disk when pluging-in USB flash drive.
    If you use USB flash drive to access Rohos disk you can use it to quickly turn on the Disk when you plug in the device to the USB port.

    Key: HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE \ Software \ Rohos
    Value Name: EnableAutoMountByUSB
    Data Type: DWORD
    1- connect (turn on) the disk;


      You can also set up Rohos to turn-off (disconnect) the Disk upon removal of the USB drive. To configure this go to Rohos -> Disk Encryption -> Disk Options.


  • Disable Rohos notifications near the clock
    By default Rohos displays notification when Rohos disk is connected successefully. You can disable this messages.

    Key: HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE \ Software \ Rohos
    Value Name: DisableTrayTips
    Data Type: DWORD
    1- disable messages;


  • Disable custom Shutdown dialog installed by Rohos.
    Rohos replaces typical shutdown dialog box. Use this tweak to disable it.

    Key: HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE \ Software \ Rohos
    Value Name: DisableRohosShutdown
    Data Type: DWORD
    1- disable custom Shutdown dialog;


  • Disable typical Login dialog box.
    On Rohos welcome-screen you click on "Users" label to open typical login dialog box where you can type user name \ password to log in. Use this tweak to disable it.

    Key: HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE \ Software \ Rohos
    Value Name: DisableTypicalLogin
    Data Type: DWORD
    1- Disable typical Windows login;


  • Disable Unlock Windows by Admin password..
    Rohos allows computer administrator to unlock Windows session by using Administrator's password.
  • This is useful when user left workstation and cannot unlock it.
  • This helps to access Computer when your Kid hibernate\suspend it. This tweak allows to disable unlocking Windows by Administrator.

    Value Name: DisableAdminUnlock
    Data Type: DWORD
    1- disable unlocking Windows by Administrator;


  • To increase the size of user image on the welcome-screen..
    There is the list of user accounts with pictures on the Rohos welcome screen. By default picture size is limited up to 60*60 pix.
    You can use this tweak to use much larger pictures for users , up to 150*150

    Key: HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE \ Software \ Rohos
    Value Name: UserIconSize
    Data Type: DWORD
    value from 40 to 150;


  • To restrict computer time for Kid.
    Rohos Welcome screen take notice of when user started and finished working. Rohos also takes into account all the pauses which user has made while working. Thus, you can find out how many hours you or any user have actually spent sitting at the PC.
    Using this tweak you can restrict computer time for any user.


    Key: HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE \ Software \ Rohos \ %user name%
    Value Name: TimeLimit, TimeLimitWeekends
    Data Type: DWORD
    ## - how many minutes allow to work (TimeLimitWeekends - on weekends);


     
  • Rohos will lock the PC and alert the message, when work time will be finished.
  • User will be able to Shuttdown PC to continue next day.
  • - OR to unlock Windows by using Admin password.


  • To disable Autoplay removable media on the Windows XP\2000? .
    Whenever you install the USB flash drive Windows XP prompts the user to indicate what to do with the media? When using Rohos Logon for login into Windows by USB flash drive, "removable drive autoplay" behaviour may be unusable also. Here's how to configure Windows XP to never try to autoplay anything on the removable drive.

    Key: HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Windows\ CurrentVersion\Policies\Explorer
    Value Name: NoDriveTypeAutoRun
    Data Type: DWORD
    0x91 - dafault value
    0xDD - turn off autoplay for everything *but* your CD drives.
    0xFF - turn it off for everything.

    Note:
    Most of mentioned here values (tweaks) should be created manually. Here's how to create value in the registry:
  • Click "start"
  • Choose "run" item
  • In the Run dialog type "regedit" and press OK.
  • Regedit window (Windows Registry editor) will appear.
  • Navigate to certain "Key" (HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE \ ...) using left panel.
